Get Married in the “Garden of Eden”

A spectacular new venue in the Shenandoah Valley is now available to host your rustic outdoor wedding. Thomas Jefferson once called this area of southwestern Virginia the “Garden of Eden,” and you’ll know why when you experience the magnificent river scenery, wildflower meadows, and panoramic mountain views of scenic Rockbridge County.

Where picturesque Mill Creek meets the Calfpasture River sits the tiny town of Goshen, VA (population 400). Goshen is home to one of the largest Boy Scout camps in America: the Goshen Scout Reservation.

For the first time, Post Hill Events now welcomes couples and their guests to experience this 4,500 acre natural wonderland overlooking Lake Merriweather. The extensive property can accommodate events of up to 500 guests. (more…)

Hidden Treasure: Cunningham Creek Winery

Tucked away in the rolling hills of a hundred-year-old family farm, Cunningham Creek Winery is a charming new wedding venue in Central Virginia.

Before it was Cunningham Creek Winery at Middle Fork Farm, it was the Bragg Farm for over a hundred years. Instead of grapes, there were fields of cows and hay. In 2011, Bruce and Debby “retired” and joined with long-time friends Rick and Sara to give the beautiful rolling land new life. (more…)

From Another Point of View: Barb’s Baby Boy Gets Married

Barb's Baby Boy Gets Married

From the Mother of the Groom, Barb Lundgren: October 1st was THE wedding of 2016! I do not mean in any way to take away from all of the beautiful and wonderful couples we have worked with. However, this was the day my youngest son was married – my baby boy (he loves that).

Having a future mother-in-law for a wedding planner could be ideal or, well, it could be problematic. In our case, it was a true blessing for all of us. Kelley and I had actually started planning long before Jeff popped the question. How silly of us! No, we didn’t have the whole thing planned out, but we had definitely talked about what we would do “when the time comes.” And when the time came, we were so ready! (more…)

Keri & Riley's Elopement at LOCKN' Festival

It was a pretty warm day in August – one that a couple of Canadians were not accustomed to when it comes to humidity. But nothing could spoil the love and fun these two were about to share on their elopement day.

Keri and Riley met and traveled regularly to music festivals, so rather than choosing a venue, musicians, catering, cake, etc., they shopped for a special festival to visit and decided to get married on that weekend. They chose Central Virginia’s LOCKN’ Festival in Nelson County, a four-day jam band and improv celebration hosting upwards of 30,000 visitors. (more…)

May is a busy time full of spring weddings and wonderful couples… including one of Barb Wired’s very own team alums! We were so honored to be part of Sarah and Brent’s special day and love seeing members of our family so blissfully in love. Congratulations Sarah and Brent!

From the Bride: Brent and I were so excited to celebrate and get married with all of our friends and family by our side. We knew it really wasn’t about us, we already knew we loved each other and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. It was about having (almost) everyone we love in the same place at the same time – we wish we could do it every year!! Working previously as an assistant with Barb Wired, I couldn’t imagine getting married in Virginia without Barb, Iris, and their team helping to coordinate the day. (more…)

Becca & Jason's Veritas Vineyard Wedding

There are those that think rain on a wedding day would make the celebration less than perfect. For Becca and Jason, it only worked to enhance the ceremony. The rain made the beautiful grounds of Veritas Vineyards and Winery lush and green, as captured in the wonderful photos by Dominique Attaway. It was reminiscent of Scotland, home to the groom’s family. (more…)
