The Barb Wired Internship program was established in 2005 and hosts four to six new recruits annually. Interns have flexible schedules and may commit to specific events based on availability. Initially, most events are unpaid however, meals are often included and carpooling is often an option. An intern’s ability to move up the ranks is based on skill level. We network extensively in the region and help place members of our team in jobs with other associates.
When not working with Barb Wired clients, current team members hone their skills in many areas including child care, college classrooms, constituent relations, event planning, hotel management, jewelry styling, sales and process engineering. Our pool of professions as well as those in training slows us to build a tem that is excited to work with you!
A quote from one of our best!
Working for Barb Wired over three years now, I have learned so much about the event industry and the Charlottesville Community. I came in as a naïve intern and was supported by the entire Barb Wired team. Although I learned so much including diplomacy, time management and creativity I also felt that my own ideas were just as important. After I realized this is the occupation I wanted to follow through with, I decided to apply for a degree in Hospitality. This internship can be applied to any occupation and I feel honored to work with such great people who are like family to me. It is indeed rewarding to work with great clients and form such strong relationships. I would not trade the last three years for anything! Lauren Scully
